"Truly Yours 2" Just Dropped And Our Summer Might Be Cole

J. Cole delivered the second installment in his Truly Yours series, "Your Yours 2". Last night J. Cole released "Cole Summer" produced by himself which is also featured in this mixtape. This six-track collection included features from 2Chainz and Young Jeezy. J. Cole delivered bars, but also gave us amazing production. I hope his sophomore album, "Born Sinner" which is due June 26th, will do justice.

Most of the records on this mixtape were deep and storytelling "3 Wishes" and "Cousins" were really deep, reminding me of old school Nas (well early 2000's Nas). But the track "Chris Tucker" ft 2 Chainz was a hit! Cole starts off the song with "Money Talk Motherf-er, Chris Tucker". Cole then slays his last verse with a little "N***as In Paris" flow, rapping, "Ball so hard motherf- wanna find me, and now a hoe wanna climb me. If real recognize real, that's why I took a motherf-er like Hov to sign me. Ball so hard I'm the truth n***as. All Star game catching  oops, if you a bitch and I'm a bitch, I'm Sheryl Swoopes and you hoops". Like I said slayed! 2 Chainz was okay, in my opinion he could have done better, but J. Coles presence gave 2 Chain leeway.

"Head Bussa" produced by yours truly, J. Cole, was a track that kind of hit me. J. Cole rapped about his life problems and revealed an event in his life that most people didn't know about. "Head Bussa" was definitely a deep track; in the record Cole confessed that in the past he struggled with paying off his student loans and tuition (St. John's University). He also confessed that he was in a deadly car accident in 2008.

This Ain't A Preview But J. Cole Drops "Cole Summer"

Elliott Wilson, from Rap Radar, said it right! "It's Light Skin Season!"

The Roc Nation MC, J. Cole dropped a new song entitled "Cole Summer" April 29th. In the record Cole rapped on a Lauryn Hill sample of "Nothing Even Matters". Cole clearly let's us know in the beginning of the record that "this ain't a preview" to his upcoming album ,"Born Sinner", which will drop June 26 (the same day as Wale's album, Gifted).

"Cole Summer" was an expected record by J. Cole (not that it was horrible; it was a hit and I loved very bar on the record, it was just another genius record, as always... Thanks Cole). In the record, Cole mentioned rapper, Drake, stating, "Throw thousands in the club with Drizzy, the only problem is I'm throwing 4, he throwing 50". Cole also rapped about how his label (Def Jam/Roc Nation) didn't think he could sell an album in the summer ( even though he is about to drop his album in the Summer, matter of fact, this Summer anyways). Cole then rapped about how if the album flops, him and mom will go back at walking to the post office; hince the single's artwork of his mothers walking towards a U.S Postal truck.

We needed this record, in general, Hip Hop needed this. J. Cole always does his fans right anytime he drops a track! J. Cole even announced on Twitter that he is going to drop "Truly Yours 2" today, April 30th.

X-Phaze Drops Single And Visual Of "Pretend"

X-Phaze, an 17 year old rapper from Mendham, New Jersey, dropped his new single and video last Friday called "Pretend". In this record, X sang and spit a couple of bars about how he ain't pretend, he is the real deal. X pretty much gave us Drake the singer for the chorus and the fast flow of Bone Thugs N' Harmony for the verses. X-Phaze gave us a simple, much isolated visual for "Pretend"; pretty much making us focus on him and him only. X also shows off his early 2000's "baggy" look, completely ignoring the new and latest fashion trends/styles. Even though the video is low budge, X-Phaze still does his thing! X might be young but his ambition and talent will get him signed to a major lable in the future. I definitely respect his effort! "Pretend" is currently available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and Rhapsody.

DJ YRS ft. Chox-Mak's Video Of "Make It Last"

DJ YRS Jerzy and his artist Chox-Mak are taking over the underground Hip Hop scene once again with their new single "Make It Last" produced my Keith Sweat, which was a sample of a N-Tone beat. With all the positive feedback the two artist were getting, they both decided to drop a visual which was shot by Rock Royal Imani Films. "Make It Last" is for the ladies; both DJ YRS and Chox-Mak both rap about a perfect and loyal lady. Both the video and the song have a "Down South" vibe so if you're a fan of Young Scooter you might be a fan of DJ YRS and Chox-Mak

Go watch the video of "Make It Last" and give them some feedbacks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slK0KSIpYJU&feature=youtu.be

Femdot Goes In On "Sam Bowie" produced by Knxwledge

Femdot, a young rapper from the Southside of Chicago dropped a track called, "Sam Bowie" produced by Knxwledge. In this record Femdot doesn't rap about the once known NBA star who was a first round second pick of the NBA Draft, but later in his career was a bust. Femdot actually rapped about his inner thoughts and his deep emotions about life: from school to his passion of rap. May be Femdot Is trying to tell us that he doesn't want to have the expectation of Sam Bowie, he wants to be great and stay great.

Also expect Femdot to collab with Frank Leone and Martin $ky soon. Fem's mixtape "Femdelacreme" drops later this summer. Stay tuned

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Gave Us Visuals For "Can't Hold Us"

Visuals are important! Macklemore
and Ryan Lewis gave us another visual from their album yesturday. Their new video, "Can't Hold Us" ft. Ray Dalton, is  one of their singles from their album "The Heist". This video had a lot going on, but it was the "there's a lot going on" in a good way type of video! Unlike other videos, "Can't Hold Us" was directed by a team of people: Ryan Lewis, Jason Koenig, and Jon Jon Augastavo. I am glad to see rappers contribute in the making of their videos because it really shows that they are not just performers, they artistic artists .

So the video starts off with an old Eskimo man giving Macklemore the "Heist Black Flag", which Macklemore runs off with. Macklemore then travels with the flag in hand with a sled and a pack of Huskies like he is competiting in the Alaska's Iditarord race (weird but cool). I think it represented may be "a race in time" in allegiance because in the rest of the video different people end up passing the the flag on to other people and the lyrics of the song kind of go hand in hand. We also see clips of a huge pirateship, and scenes with Ray Dalton. But the end of the video, Macklemore placed the "Heist Black Flag" on top of Seattle Washington's Space Needle.

Some great visuals in the video was the camel walking on a city sidewalk, which was weird but cool because we usually see camels in the desert, but in this video it is walking on the sidewalk with Macklemore. Another visual which grabbed my attention was the scene with the red truck in the plain grassy fields. The red truck was pulling a long wagon that had a living room set on it. Yes I said it, the wagon had a television, a couch, rug, a lamp, etc. all while the truck was moving and Macklemore was rapping and chilling on the couch. There was also a scence with Ray Dalton, who was stranded on a island sitting on a barbor sit getting his hair. This scene really hit me the most because he is dressed to the T with his lace ups on, stranded on a island, while getting his hair cut. But the Ryan Lewis appears for submerging out of the water and handing the "Heist Black Flag" to Ray Dalton. It was a great image with a powerful meaning and visual!

There was a lot of visuals and numerous subliminal messages in the video, so go watch the video and see if you know the meaning. I  absolutely love the song; it's so uplifting but yet a party starter.

Go watch "Can't Hold Us"! : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zNSgSzhBfM&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Kid Cudi's "Indicud" Album Review

Kid Cudi is back with a new project, "Indicud", his third studio album that released today, April 16th. "Indicud" is for all of Kid Cudi's regular and older fans only because it the same eccentric sound.  Most people know Kid Cudi as the man who assisted Kanye West with the writing and vocal work of Ye's 2008 auto tuned detour, "808's & Heatbreak". Kid Cudi is known for his futuristic and out of space sound, hince his nickname "Moon Man", which is what we will expect on this album.

Indicud started off with "The Resurrection of Scott Mescudi" and "Unfuckwittable", which both had eccentric sound waves and amazing electric and bass guitar work that sounds like something off of the 1980 movie, "The Shining" which was known for it's abnormal music and screenplay. "Unfuckeittable" intro is a sample of Macaulay Culkin's 1993's "The Good Son". Cudi sounds empowered and energized than ever in this record, you can tell by the lyrics in the song too!

Some tracks that stand out to me was "King Wizard". In the intro Cudi decicates this song to his boys, his family and fans, but most importantly to his haters. What makes this track stand out to me was the catchy beat, it's not like his other productions because it has a little hood flavor in it (He is from Cleveland, Ohio!). Another is "Burn Baby Burn" which was a rant track.Cudi raps "N***as think I'm living my life paranoid, f*** that man". Kid gets stuff off his chest and let's it out on one long verse. He addressed the accusations about heavy drug use by saying "I just experimented, and it helped me adjust". Then there was "Immortal", one of his singles that he released earlier this year. In "Immortal", Cudi sings, "I can't explain this sudden peace in my walk" over a sample of MGMT's "Congratulations", which actually runs backward (He revealed this secret on Twitter last month, pretty cool huh?). "Immortal" to me is a part two of "Day N' Night", which was a battle between his good and evil side. But in "Immortal", Cudi is a new man.

I absolutely love "Girls" ft Too $hort! I am always screaming "I see pretty girls everywhere I go, every, every, everywhere I go!". "Girls" celebrates the diversity of females and how beautiful they are. This track is definitey a Spring/Summer anthem; the females would love this record! I hope it gets spins on the radio. Another track that I love but I was surprised by was "Brothers" ft King Chip and A$AP Rocky.  In this song Cudi, King Chip, and Rocky rap about the bound they all have for their friends that they call their brothers. The track had a very smooth late 90's flow to it which made Rocky, who had a victorious verse, spit a double speeded flow that would make Bone Thugs-N Harmony proud.

Some tracks that are unique are "New York City Rage Fest" and "Afterwards (Bring Yo Friends)" ft Michael Bolton and King Chip. "New York City Rage Fest" is sounds like Hip Hop techno music, if that is even possible. It also has an early 2000's flavor that mixed with punk and electronic dance music. The "House Music" clubs will love it! Cudi then gives us "Afterwards (Bring Yo Friends)", a nine minute track that has a 70's vibe to it; thanks to Michael Bolton's vocals. This track definitely has that 70's rollerskating jam vibe, like the end of Frank Ocean's "Pyramids".

Kid Cudi recently said in a radio interview that he was no longer with Kanye West's label G.O.O.D Music. Some were shocked and others saw it coming. But if you noticed last year when the G.O.O.D Music "Cruel Summer" album dropped, Cudi barely promoted the album and he was even featured in album. I am kind of glad Kid Cudi is not apart of G.O.O.D Music because his sound is very different from them. He gives us more if a Odd Future sound then a typical Hip Hop sound anyways so it was best for him to part ways. Overall this album is amazing, from the eccentric production to all the different features like Kendrick Lamar, RZA, etc. that are included in this masterpiece. If they had to remake the movie "The Shining", this album should be featured in all aspects of the movie. "The Shining" was not just a movie it was a picture with visuals, and "Indicud" is not just a Hip Hop album it's artwork. Kid Cudi's fans got to travel through a whole new world with this one. Thanks "Moon Man"!

Drake Drops Two Songs, He Must Have Something Up His Sleeve

Last week Friday, Elliott Wilson interviewed Drake on EVRadio "Keep It Thoro" and Drake told us he will be dropping two new records for us. Well he kept his promise by dropped "No New Friends" by DJ Khaled ft Drake, Rick Ross, and Lil Wayne and "Girls Love Beyonce" ft. James Fauntleroy in less than 24 hours.

In the record "No New Friends" Drake sings in the chorus about how he has friends that's been with him since day one, no new friends. Drake of course slays his verse while we hear the same old lyrics from Rick Ross and Lil Wayne. Overall the song was good, it was a bit of a slow jam, but it will definitely be played on the radio. It looks like Drake will continue to please his fans by show off his vocal abilities....well his little vocal abilities.

In the record "Girls Love Beyonce" Drake opens up about his relationship with women who I guess love Beyonce. When the beat drops you might think this is a remix to Ginuwine's "Pony", but no it's bit of a Destiny's Child "Say My Name" boy version remix. In the record James Fauntleroy sings the famous "Say My Name" lyrics by Destiny's Child. Even though this song is a slow jam it definitely speaks for the fellas. I hope the the guys can see pass this slow jam and really listen to the lyrics. My interpretation of "Girls Love Beyonce" is that Drake wants a girl that is not ashamed of being in a relationship, hince the lyrics "say my name, same my name when no one is around you. Say baby I love you if you aint running games". Some girls love and want to act like Beyonce but need to stop chasing water falls and stay in their lane. I agree with Drake, some girls need to stop thinking that Beyonce's songs/lyrics have all the answer to their relationships. Some ladies need to start living in reality because what Beyonce is singing is what she has or is going through, it has nothing to do with your life. Some females might relate to it but just know it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with your relationship.

Fabolous Realeases The Visual For "Ready" ft. Chris Brown

It's Loso in case you didn't know so! Fabolous released the offical video for his single "Ready" ft. Chris Brown yesturday on MTV Jams. Fabolous also releaved on 106&Park on BET that his upcoming album "Loso'a Way 2: Rise To Power" will be released June 18th.

The video "Ready", directed by TAJ, was set in the beautiful Dominican Republic. In the video,The Brooklyn MC used his typical wit and charm in this matute love tale. Fab falls for a hotel maid in this video while Chris Brown performs in different clips in the background. Even though the storyline is intriguing and well played out, doesn't it sound familiar? (Maid in Manhattan). Either way, the video is real sexy and well played out, I can't stop listening and watching the video. The end of the video is what really gets me....

Check out the video and see what happens at the end: http://www.mtv.com/videos/fabolous/897836/ready-ft-chris-brown.jhtml#id=1518072

Pusha T Kills "Numbers On The Boards"

Today is a great day for Hip Hop and Hip Hop lovers! Kanye tweeted today "Our family Hov brought that real hip hop shit this morning so me and Pusha wanba keep going". And after that Twitter went crazy!

Pusha T has a new record out called "Numbers On The Boards" produced by Don Cannon. This track brings out a new fresh sound and vibe to the Hip Hop scene. The beat is so complex and eccentric, but it has an old school vibe to it. The track has different old voice over recordings in it, intro and in the middle of the track, but as soon as the intro comes in and that beat drop it was over! Pusha T killed this track like he does on every track he is on (This is the sh** that yall wanted. This sh** sounds like God don't it?). This track is probably his first single to his album "My Name Is My Name" which is coming soon. Well I can't wait for this album to drop now!

The artist work  for "Number On The Boards" which is of course designed by Kanye's DONDA design has a white background and in the middle it says "No Artwork"....typical Ye. But then again this track doesn't even need artwork!

Jay-Z Rants On His New Song "Open Letter" produced by Swizz Beatz and Timaland

Yall gon' learn today! Jay-Z, who is fresh from his trip to Cuba surprises us with a new song, which he premiered on Hot 97 this morning. The legendary Hip-Hop icon teams with both hit makers Swizz Beatz and Timbaland on "Open Letter".

Hov goes on a bit of a rant on this record, not holding back at all. He addresses the recent hot topics including his "controversial trip" to Cuba with Beyoncé  that is now under investigation (America is so sensetive!) Jay raps "I done turned Havana to Atlanta"/ "Obama said chill you goin get me impeached". Hov also addressed his ownership stake in the Brooklyn Nets. Recently Jay loses his share over the Nets but he told us in "Open Letter", "I still own the building, I’m still keeping my seats". He then rapped about his new deal with Universal Music saying, "Got an onion from Universal, read it and weep".

I honest heard better songs and verses from Jigga, like his verse in H.A.M ft. Kanye West. I thought the production was hot and the message was powerful but I would not download it. It's a 2 minute rant about his life, why do I need to hear that everyday. But if somebody askes me "What song does Hov rant on about his life" I would blast "Open Letter". Jay needs to this though, he has been all over news these past couple of weeks. Go ahead Hov, do you! People better realize that Hov ain't playing around, he is taking over like he said, “The world’s under new management"....may be we need to stay tuned!

A Dark Gruesome Visual for J. Cole's "Power Trip"

The Roc Nation MC, J. Cole released his single "Power Trip" ft. Miguel early this year, leaving us without any visuals to refer to but today MTV premiered "Power Trip" which will be featured on his sophomore album Born Sinner, due for June 25. Cole puts a whole new perspective on his love song as he commits murder in the grim visuals.

In the video, which was fairly dark and gloomy, J. Cole acts as a suspicious and envious man who in the video we see park in front of a house, which shows Miguel getting ready to go out. Then later in the video Cole and his friend drives towards the woods in his car with his friend with a trash bag on top of the car. A cop then stops them over, but he only checks the trunk which contained a shovel. They continue to drive towards the woods where we discover Cole has acted in a murderous crime and guess who is in the plastic bag?

The storyline was genius and interesting, but the video will probably have fans complaining about how they can't see. There was no lighting in this video which makes the viewers think "well, I wonder who the director is? And why would he/she capture the video in almost complete darkness?" Obviously director of the video chose to capture what happened after the dark, mysterious murder because usually when something tragic happens people "blackout" maybe that's why it had a dark visual?

Check out the video and see for yourself...well if you can see! http://www.mtv.com/videos/j-cole/897318/power-trip-ft-miguel.jhtml?xrs=share_twitter

Choo's Dairy by Rajah Universe

Rajah Universe, a member of Double AM (AAM) released "Choo's Diary" April 3th. The "Choo's Diary" is an 8 minute record which highlights four different popular Hip Hop beats from Lil Wayne to old school Dr. Dre! Each song on "Choo's Diary" gives the listeners an oppurtunity to hear some different sides of Rajah Universe. My person favorite favorite is the second track which is an old Dre beat. See if you can figure out what song it is!

The ladies of The Gossip Game takeover!

Monday April 1st, VH1 premiered a new show about seven ladies in New York City working in one of the most male dominated businesses, the Hip Hop entertainment. "The Gossip Game" shows the lives of seven women and how they make a living in the Hip Hop entertainment industry.

The cast of "The Gossip Game" includes radio personnel Angela Yee from Power 105.1 The Breakfastclub, radio personnel Kay Foxx from Hot 97, Kim Osorio, the Editor in Chief of the Source Magazine, journalist Sharon Carpenter from Global Grind, freelance journalist Jas Fly, blogger Ms. Drama, and blogger Vivian Billings aka Da NYC Gossipgirl.

Even though the first episode was suppose to be just an introduction of the cast members it was full drama, but most of VH1's shows are full of drama anyways! From the beef between the two radio power houses Power 105.1 and Hot 97, and the altercation between the two bloggers, "The Gossip Game" had a juicy and entertaining first episode. From the preview of the upcoming episodes, it looks like I will be intrigued.

To learn more about the cast go to: http://www.vh1.com/shows/the_gossip_game/series.jhtml and catch the lovely cast on VH1 every Monday at 9pm.

Tyler The Creator's WOLF album review

When people think of Tyler The Creator, they think of this weird, non talented rapper that said "Jesus is a bitch".Tyler The Creator first came out the Hip Hop scene with songs and videos that came off controversial and judgemental. Most people were confused of how Tyler The Creator could call himself a rapper with the lyrics he put out. I personally didn't like Tyler The Creator because he was very different and at the time I liked mainstream rappers. Tyler wasn't the type of rapper I would listen to at the time as well. But now I have given Tyler The Creator a second look after hearing that he worked a long side with Frank Ocean, a member of OFWGKTA, on his album Channel Orange. Channel Orange is my favorite album that came out last year, so if Tyler had something to do with it I have to stop listening to what everybody else said about Tyler and really listen to his music.

Tyler The Creator is back with an album entitled WOLF that came out today, April 2nd. Over all, this was a very artistic album, it had everything a Hip Hop album should have, a little bit of everything. The production, the lyrics, the vision of this album was outstanding and Tyler should be proud of this album instead of saying it sucks! WOLF to me was a "Slim Shady" album. The creativity and the stories Tyler told in every song reminded me of Slim. Lets be clear here, Slim Shady and Eminem are two different artist with two different personalities. I think that if we had to compare Tyler to any artist (which I hate to compare two artist) it would have to be Slim Shady. People would say Slim Shady has controversial lyrics and so does Tyler!

Tyler's first single "Domo 23" sent out a buzz for this album and when the video surfaced, Tyler had everybody screaming "DOMO!". The song had a lot of smack talking and the video had a lot of smacking it in. Tyler's second single was "IFHY" which features Pharrell. The lyrics showed a bit of "young love", Tyler expressed in the song "I f***ing hate you but I love". The video really grabbed my attention because it was so different and artistic. Even Kanye West felt some type of way about the video; he took down everything on website, KanyeWest.com and put up "IFHY" (Mr.West accepts).

"48" ft. Nas and Frank Ocean, is the best song in the album. Nas as a cameo in this song expressing his views about crack in America. We as the audience really see a different side of Tyler, a Tyler that talks and cares about social issues. But then we hear a song like "Pigs" which expresses a loner who gathers up a crowd to shoot up a school, we back track and say "Controversial, isn't it?" We all know the lyrics in "Pigs" can come off as disturbing and uncomfortable but then again it's Tyler The Creator!

Some songs on the album that might catch people's attention are "Colossus", "PartyIsntOver/Campfire/Bimmer", and "Treehome95". "Colossus" is a mixture of Eminem's "The Way I am" and "Stan" but on emotional snteroids. Tyler talks about himself from a fans point of view. "PartyIsntOver/Campfire/Bimmer" ft Laetitia and Frank Ocean is a very intriguing and unique song. "PartyIsntOver/Campfire/Bimmer" are three songs combined into one! Tyler really tells a story in all three songs. The way Tyler orchestrated this track is genius. How he goes from one melody to another witout confusing the audience is mind blowing. Has anybody done this before? Three songs in one? "Treehome95" ft. Coco O. and Erykah Badu is an amazing record, full of grace and soul. I was suprised "Treehome95" was even on WOLF because it's a beautiful jazzy, soulful record; it's not Hip Hop track but this proves that Tyler is an artist not just a rapper.

Over all this album is great! Even if you are not a fan of Tyler The Creator you will truly enjoy the fourteen storytelling tracks Tyler has created for us.

Congratulations on this album, WOLF!

Chris Brown is Back with his "Fine China"

Today, April 1, Chris Brown dropped a video for the single from his upcoming album, "X", called "Fine China". The track, which was produced by Roccstar and PK, was definitely insiped by Michael Jackson. This video, which Brown directed himself, takes distinct visual cues from classic clips like the King of Pop's "Smooth Criminal" and "Beat It." Brown wore fedoras, bowties, suspenders, and suits in this video which showcases a lot of MJ's moves. The video is very funky and classic!

In this video, Chris Brown drives around in a red Lamborghini with his "Fine China", a beautiful Asian woman. Rumors have spread that the Asian women in the video is a Karrueche Tran look-a-like, Brown's ex girlfriend, but who knows.  Check out Chris Brown's new video and see for yourself: http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=iGs1gODLiSQ&feature=youtu.be&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DiGs1gODLiSQ%26feature%3Dyoutu.be

In a recent interview Chris Brown explains where he came up with the title of "X", he expresses “My birthday is 5/5/89. So the Roman numeral 10 is X. Five and five is 10. Then, eight, nine, 10. X is also the 24th letter in the alphabet. I’ll be 24 when the album comes out”. "X" will feature collaborations with Rihanna entitled "Put It Up" and Kendrick Lamar will also be feaured in the album. "X" will drop this summer! Stay Tuned...
