Davon King, Hip Hop artist with an Old School Soul

Last week I encountered a young Hip Hop artist named Devonte Akein, but he goes by Davon King. He is an 19 years old Hip Hop artist and lyricist from South Hampton, New York that brings a new school flavor with an Old School soul. His music appeals to people who love true Hip Hop from back in the 80's and 90's. His flow is very vintage and old school, and so as his fashion. His fashion resembles a vintage New York street look, for example camo jackets, flight jackets, timberland boots, etc. This style certainly appeals to the up North scene rather than the South, but it works to his benefit because his rap flow is very Old School.

Davon King markets himself very well by designing t-shirts and passes out his cds around his neighborhood. He really has a lot of ambition and passion for what he does from the short time I talked to him. I think that maybe going more gigs and performing a colleges around the area will give him more of an name for himself in surrounding areas.

How do I know of Davon King? Well, he actually sent me a link of his new music through Twitter called "New York Times" produced by Eric Wagas. The song reminded me of Nas's old school flow with a little bit of Rock N' Roll. The song was really appealing to me because of it's Old school flavor and I think that's what we need more of in the Hip Hop industry.
