Eve's "Lip Lock" Album Review

Eve is back with her fourth studio album "Lip Lock" which dropped May 14th. The album featured collaborations from Dawn Richards, Pusha T, Juicy J, of course Missy Elliott, and more. The sound of the album was pretty much the same, excepted for a couple slow songs. I felt like she had the same flow like she did on Ruff Ryders, that hard core rap shit. I am just glad that a 90's female rapper has came back and put out a very good album. "Lip Lock" was a 8/10, or may be a 7.5/10. Lyrics and flow were on key, but I aspected more from Eve; may be just like 3 club hits because this is the era of turn up music. But over all Eve represented for the 90's female rappers, who eles was going to step up anyways?

'Lip Lock' started off with her single "E.V.E" ft. Missy Kitty which is my favorite record on the album. The sound, to me, was generated from London since she has been living there for sometime now. "E.V.E" had a rough Philly vibe just like the rest of her album. Other songs that gave that same vibe were "Wanna Be" ft. Missy Elliott and Naco, "Mama In The Kitchen" ft. Snoop Dogg, and "Grind Or Die". "She Bad Bad" gave me a Caribbean/Jamacian vibe but didn't set well with me until I heard the remix which was on the album as well. The remix featured Pusha T and Juicy J making the song ten times more better! Some songs that I thought were different for Eve was "Make It Out This Town" ft. Gabe Saporta, "Keep Me From You" ft. Dawn Richards, and "Never Gone" ft Chrisette Michelle. Eve still has the same flow but these songs were more out of the box, it will hopefully get spins on Urban radio stations.

Eve's last album came out ten years ago, leaving her fans thirsty for more. I am glad Eve returned with 'Lip Lock' because it was way over due. I am also glad that Eve stuck to what she knew, Hip Hip, and didn't adventure off to other genres of music like Pop, like other female artist are doing. Being Indie really helped to her advantage because she got to have her own sound and ideas. I hope that her next album has some Ruff Ryder members and maybe more newer  artist as well. Thanks Eve again for being the only 90's female rapper who resurrected with an album, and a great project at that!

Femdot Release '1000 Miles And Running', Part Of His New Project

As Femdot finishes on his upcoming mixtape "Femdelacreme",the music genius will be putting out songs with Chicago producer, Mike Wavvs, in a series called "WavyFridays". Femdot released "1000 Miles And Running" today, May 10, his the first installment to "Wavy Fridays". Femdot spits over a smooth soulful beat about the issues around him, like "Instagram made this thugs photo genic, followers make these hoes all pathetic but the world just deceives us. Told us to love black girls with white girl features, killed our leaders, brain washed our teachers. Can't be mad at them they don't know history either". This might actually be one of my favorite Femdot flows since I heard this kid! My favorite lines? Well if you asked me, they were, "Momma figure out like why my homework aint finished? I guess Ambition cant pay tuition" and "...And my clique are all getting rich over here my n***a, I mean we broke but we goin somewhere my n***a." Killer bars Fembot, salute!

Femdelacreme coming soon!

Pusha T Links Up With Kanye West For 'Numbers On The Boards' Video

After dropping "Numbers On The Board" a few weeks back, Pusha T blesses us with a dark visual for the song. The track brings out a new fresh sound with a complex and eccentric beat, which is what I got from the video.

The "Numbers On The Board" video gave me a cold vibe just like J. Cole's "Power Trip" video. The video, shot in Paris, France, showcased a lot of dark visuals and unexplained scenes. Unlike the self explained "Power Trip" video, Pusha appeared in various rooms and locations which had no significants to any of lyrics he was rapping, odd. I also thought that it was odd (but I love odd) that Pusha was in a room with cars that were covered; I thought it was a very bold statement actually. I think it meant that "yes I have rap money but why flaunt the fact that I do have money". There were lots of interesting visuals in the video, like one scene when the director focuses his camera in a room, and it seemed like somebody was peeking out in the corner of the room, and also when Pusha was in a pitch black room and all we saw were his eyes and gold grills. Kanye West and Chief Keef also had a little a cameo in the video as well; maybe we will hear Keef in Pusha T's new album "My Name Is My Name" which is due on July 16th.

Kanye West Performs New Music At Met Gala

Kanye West attended the Met Gala after party last night in New York City and performed a few of his old tracks, but also performed the rumored single and/or album, "I Am A God".

Now, there are videos out of Kanye's peformance but they are only a few seconds long. DJ A-Track and a few other people who attented the after party leaked Vine videos throughout the event. In his performance, Ye occasionally yelled out "I Am A God" so we clearly know that his project (whether it is a single or album) is entitled "I Am A God".

"I Am A God" is supposedly set to debut May 18 during Ye's 'Saturday Night Live' performance (crosses fingers). Vogue is very much planning to release a HD footage of last night's performanxe on Friday.

Jay-Z Drops '100$ Bill, Must Have A Little Gatsby In Him!

Today the soundtrack tracklist to 'The Great Gastby' was released and Jay-Z brand new track "'100$ Bill" opened the soundtrack of 'The Great Gatsby' film. Jay-Z is even the Executive Producer to the soundtrack and film of 'The Great Gatsby'.

We are so used to hearing Jay-Z talk about money in his other records, so when "'100$ Bill" dropped I knew Jay was going to kill it. More lyrical and impressive than his recent record "Open Letter", Jay-Z goes back to his New York roots and rapped about the drugs and money. Bars like "Took that Taylor Swift to 100 f***ing million, bitch!", and "That cheese made us consitipated, couldn't tell us shit!" reassured me that Jay-Z still has bars. "'100$ Bill" also had some  cameo of Leonardo DiCaprio in 'The Great Gatsby' film in this chopped and screwed beat. In a recent interview, Leonardo DiCaprio even says Jay-Z has a bit of Gatsby in him.

Femdot Delivers Brutal Bars On "Theme Song To A Robbery"

Southside Chicago's cold MC, Femdot, leaked "Theme Song To a Robbery" (#TSTAR) ,produced by Leader Lockwood, from his forthcoming mixtape "Femdelacreme" which drops this Summer. Femdot RIPPED this track with powerful metaphors and similies layed on top with an old school flow. Femdot did justice, poetic justice, with bars like, "I'm on the block with loose screws and nothing to loses so what's the move? What's the move?", "Come from a place where parents don't coincide, family don't survive and fathers don't provide but hey, even Jesus never met his real father...", and "I was 16, spitting 16 at Sweet Sixteens!". Femdot had a lot more edgy and brutal bars then his usual records, but he still delivers once again! Salute Femdot!

Let me just say this, "Some of these rappers can't see Femdot, step up!....I'm done" (I usually don't do this, I promise......)

As Summer fastly approaches and we anticipate the release of GRWYF$ , Dj Chi decides to leak another track off the mixtape. "Whatever" which features GRWYF$ member, Jahsi Wonder and fellow female newcomer Keturah. Jahsi and Keturah both lay down smooth flow verses about how their significant others are open anything in the relationship, on a sampled "Jones Girls" beat. Keturah killed her verse with a little Français with, "Me plus you is Qui so we can love just like the French do". Thank you Keturah for representing for the females on this one!
